I really enjoyed your web page. I am a long standing pipe smoker and would love to be a member of your group. I am always on the lookout for interesting pipes and like to experiment with different blends of tobacco.

I hope to receive a reply to this message.

Till later I hope

Now looking for a descent pipe (brigham) with wood-metal filters. Also appreciate the tobbaco ratings, thanks. I'll be back to browse more later. Bye for now.

I am curently in Afghanistan and i am slowly running out of tobacco, do you know any Canadian internet sites on which i could buy tobaco and pay on-line?

I just read the interesting article about cellaring tobacco. I read, that once opened the tin, the fermentation process stops. But what if I seal the tobacco perfectly again? I would like to know this because I plan to purchase a vacuum sealer. Every advice appreciated!

This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it : Hi Eric, It was exciting to read about your trip and especially to see the photos. I was born in Kibale and was there until the age of 22. I lived in Kasese and Kilembe mines situated at the foothills of the Ruwenzori mountains. I left Uganda in 1971 to attend college in California. I remember all the places you wrote about, for example, Katunguru where my father owned a Caltex gas station pass the bridge at the end of the hill. I remember bike trips from Katunguru to Bunyaruguru where my grandfather owned a general store. I grew up around all these areas as a boy. I sure miss that place and have been longing to return for a visit. I had been hearing that it was not safe yet to visit Uganda. I admire your bravery to cross a country that had been in such turmoil. Uganda was offering the land back to Ugandan born Indians that Ida Amin had taken away and had been expelled. Anyway, I doubt if the offer is still available. Once again, it was great reading your article and will try to save your transcript. If you have additional pictures of Uganda, I would love to see them.

Thank you for sharing your trip,

Philip Patel

This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it : Hi Eric,

I noticed that in your page on air cleaners you indicated that you purchased a Kenmore electronic model (C39253). How satisfied are you with it, and how effective have you found it to be? I have not seen any comparative ratings for this model with other makes/models. onsumer Reports rates the Friedrich C-90A electronic air cleaner highly, but I wonder how the Kenmore compares with it in effectiveness, durability, noise, cost (electricity consumption), etc.

Thanks,
Peter Stokoe , Ottawa

You're site looks great, it's always nice to see people who enjoy a good smoke. I also wanted to let you know about a company out of London Ontario, definitely worthy of your links page, (I'm not associated with them in any way other then admiration). The company is called MacQueen Pipes (www.macqueenpipes.com) and they made the pipes for the Lord of the Rings Films. A pretty cool company if you're into *really* big churchwardens. Anyways, keep on puffing.

I am from Toronto and I am in the midst of planning a trip to the East Coast. I only have two weeks and will most likely take a plane to Saint John's on July 12th. I'll be on my bike for the two weeks and then take a flight home.

Please allow me to congratulate you on your Atlantic adventures. Your writing is truly amazing and I really enjoyed the details of it. It has given me a very real source of information for my planning of this trip.

With best regards,

Franklin

Anyway just a little thing I noticed in the "Sweetening" article is that you can purchase Smirnoff Vodka at 50% alcohol by volume from the LCBO. May be worth mentioning. Maybe not.
